When did you join RIS? What were you doing beforehand?
I joined RIS in May 2018. Prior to joining RIS, I was a bar attendant and manager for 4 years at one of the local Hotel-Motels.
What is your role at RIS and what does a typical day look like for you?
My role is Account Manager for personal & business insurance. I manage accounts including general home and contents, landlord policies, motor vehicles, motorbikes, and caravans, as well as just starting to look at business insurance. A typical day for me in the office is a lot of phone calls. We get new business opportunities almost daily so I do a lot of quotes or endorsements. I interact with a fair amount of clients or insurers daily, regarding claims or accounts. Aside from those jobs, I action upcoming renewals.
What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?
I enjoy being able to help clients better understand what they are covered for and what we as brokers do within the insurance world. I find it very rewarding to help people.
What makes RIS special in comparison to other places you’ve worked?
The work environment is amazing here, not only does everyone get on so well, there is truly never a bad day when you have a safe and happy place to go to each day. It is a place I am happy to go to and that makes it pretty special.
What is your proudest moment at RIS?
My proudest moment was hitting the one-year mark, as I came into this industry with no experience in insurance and I found that in the first year I learned so much and I have a better understanding of how important insurance is.
What book did you read last? What did you like/dislike about it?
“Great Australian Ghost Stories” by Richard Davis. I chose to read this as there was a story relating to Roma and I wanted to get an insight into this and I found there were a few stories for surrounding regions that I did not know about. I didn’t really have a dislike on any part, only that some were really short and it felt like some stories were missing parts or cut short.
If you could meet anyone in the world dead or alive who would it be and why?
Eminem, he has always been my favourite music artist and this has always been the one person I would choose to meet.
